Backs in Action wishes all Canadians a very happy and momentous 150th Canada Day. As Canadians, we are brought together through our common values, aspirations for our families and the world. Despite the different stories and journeys that have brought us here, we are all connected to each other. For our country’s indigenous communities, their connection to this land that long predates its confederation. And yet we all share something in common. We are a country whose citizens have different politics, vehemently support different sports teams, can’t agree on whether we have a Canadian cuisine, and yet, we all agree that there is a great pride that being Canadian brings us. When we see what is happening in other parts of the world, we are thankful for the steps our various governments have taken to preserve and champion our values at home and on the global stage. We are by no means perfect, but we strive to always be better, respect others and the differences they bring. We recognize that we are enriched by every single Canadian that calls this country home and that Canada is much more than a stretch of land or an idea. Canada is the sum total of each and every one of us. It is that Canada that defines us, with all our struggles, challenges, hopes and fears. It is we who are Canada, shaped by our variegated encounters and experiences, and we couldn’t be prouder today!
