Backs in Action Now Offers Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy is a safe, drug-free and non-invasive treatment that has helped countless patients across Vancouver reduce pain and feel better. Shockwave therapy works by sending acoustic waves, known as shockwaves, deep below the skin’s surface to treat injury, increase blood flow and quicken tissue generation. It uses the body’s own natural healing properties to repair connective tissues and regenerate cell growth. Backs in Action is the only clinic in the area to offer this service. And because it is part of a regular treatment protocol, it can be billed to your extended health insurance or to ICBC or WorkafeBC.

Shockwave is administered by our chiropractors and physiotherapists at Backs in Action and most patients report improvements in a single treatment and significant reduction of pain and symptoms in as few as 3-4 treatments. Patients have reported fantastic results with many conditions including plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, frozen shoulder, hip bursitis and chronic muscle and joint pain.

Each shockwave application takes only a few minutes and can be completed as part of a routine chiropractic or physiotherapy treatment. It involves your therapist applying gel to the affected area and then taking a handheld device and pressing it against your skin. As the shockwaves are applied, as many as 2,000 in very quick succession, a patient will feel pulses, vibrations or tapping sensations.
