Active Rehab or Active Rehabilitation is used to increase strength, flexibility, function and general conditioning to individuals after an injury. People involved in a motor vehicle accident and work related injuries are more suited for this type of physiotherapy. The program is intended to help our patients return to normal function safely and efficiently.
Our active rehab program is led by our experienced physiotherapists that are trained in work conditioning and personal training. Its main goal is to assist patients to resolve their symptoms and provide independence in their recovery through a structured exercise routine. Throughout the process, clients are given professional support through learning opportunities and coping strategies for pain management to reduce reliance on medication and passive therapy where possible.
Appointments can occur 2 to 3 times per week for 6 to 8 weeks or as needed and can involve one-to-one exercise as well as strengthening and cardiovascular activities.
Once discharged, patients are given a gym- or home-based exercise routine allowing them to take more control of their recovery process.
