Dr. Ryan Takagi

Position: Chiropractor
Categories: Our Chiropractors

Dr. Ryan Takagi has clinical concentrations in sports injury management and nutritional therapy. With a strong interest in athletic performance, he specializes in treating the range of injuries that often arise when playing sports of all kinds, whether baseball, rowing or running. To remedy these, he uses joint manipulation and mobilization, various soft tissue techniques, active rehabilitation, and lifestyle education to keep his patients functioning optimally.

Dr. Ryan also believes in the importance in nutrition to one’s physical health and overall well-being. By exploring deficiencies in diet, Dr. Ryan is also able to identify broader areas of wellness improvement that come from a holistic approach to ourselves and the body.

Dr. Ryan grew up in picturesque 100 Mile House in Central British Columbia and moved to Vancouver to attend university where he completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at UBC while rowing on the Varsity team. He then went on to earn a Master of Science in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

In addition to his Chiropractic practice, Dr. Ryan volunteers some of his mornings coaching the SFU Rowing Crew, and is a Substitute Instructor at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends, exploring BC’s beautiful hiking and running trails.

More recently he has been exploring movement through artistic expression, using dancing and drawing as other ways of interacting with and exploring the relationships we have with our bodies.
