What is Chiropractic?
Vancouver Chiropractors: Chiropractic Treatments at Backs in Action Clinic.
Chiropractic is a method of health care concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system and the effects of these disorders on one’s health. Chiropractic approaches illness from a non-invasive viewpoint and does not utilize drugs or surgical procedures. Chiropractic searches for and resolves the underlying problem which may be causing one’s discomfort and helps the body repair itself, using its natural ability to return to normal function.
Back to the Past
The Chiropractic profession was established in 1985. The word “Chiropractic,” from the ancient Greek, means “done by hand.” Chiropractic is the third largest primary health care profession in Canada, and its licensing and standards of practice are set out and regulated by the provincial and territorial governments. Many provincial health care plans and many private insurance companies provide for Chiropractic care.
Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.)
A Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), also known as a Chiropractor, is a qualified primary contact health care professional who gives special attention to the spine, muscles, nerves, circulatory and skeletal systems. To practice in Vancouver B.C., a Chiropractic Doctor must study for a minimum of seven years at a university and Chiropractic college and pass a series of rigorous exams through the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board.
Chiropractors endorse the idea of wellness, a state of health where your body is free of interference from your nerve system, thus allowing full expression and enjoyment of life. Chiropractors offer preventive and corrective care to all types of patients, from infants to seniors, and from athletes to office workers.
